Why Tariela lives in
the browser

A deliberate trade: reach that starts and ends inside the workday, instead of another notification competing for a phone.

The wrong kind of reach

A phone app has to earn a permanent slot on a crowded home screen, then justify itself with a push notification or it quietly stops getting opened. That model rewards interruption: a buzz at the wrong moment, a streak counter that turns a daily ritual into a small guilt if a day gets missed. None of that fits what Tariela is actually for — a short pause during a workday that is already happening in a browser, not a second app competing for whatever minutes are left after the workday ends.

What was already there

Chrome is already open for most of a working day, already holds a toolbar with room for one more small, quiet icon. That is not a workaround — it is the actual advantage. Nothing new to download to a phone, no separate battery or notification permission to negotiate, no context switch away from whatever tab was already open. The popup opens on top of the exact moment it is needed, and closes the instant it is not.

Most competitors in this space chose the phone-app path. Tariela chose to live exactly where a workday already happens instead.

The honest trade-off

This choice has a real cost, worth naming rather than hiding: Tariela does not reach a person on their phone in the evening, does not send a push notification to bring them back, does not build the kind of daily-open habit loop phone apps are engineered around. That is deliberate. A ritual that has to be pushed to be remembered is not reflective anymore — it is a notification pattern wearing an astrology costume. Tariela's bet is that a tool worth returning to does not need to interrupt anyone to earn the return.
